A canyon not to be missed near Marbella!

Level: 2,5/5

Duration: 5h

Autumn-winter-spring

Istán, Málaga
A canyon not to be missed near Marbella! Perfect for autumn, winter or spring.
A beautiful dry canyon in the foothills of Sierra Blanca (next to Marbella), within the municipality of the white village of Istán.
This canyoning activity is designed for all those who have had some experience with verticals or want to increase their knowledge, technique and manoeuvres in the world of abseiling. It is classified with a medium-high difficulty. To do it, it is necessary to be in good physical condition and to have a spirit of self-improvement.
In this canyoning adventure you will find a total of 10 rappels!!, with an increasing difficulty!!. The greatest sensation of height is achieved in the last vertical ones, where you will reach 30 meters of pure adrenaline (of course, if you suffer from vertigo, we do not recommend this route).
This steep terrain offers the perfect scenario to practice and improve your abseiling technique (utilizing different descenders, self-locking systems, and discovering different uses of the figure of eight…) and beautiful views of the Embalse de la Concepción, which will be the perfect scenic backdrop for this great adventure.
You will start the activity with a 45 meter approach uphill, along a beautiful path surrounded by dense Mediterranean scrubland. On the way back to the starting point you will have a short and comfortable trail to relax your muscles and stabilize your heart rate.

Enjoy local gastronomy in the village of Istán!
Save some time and organize a visit to the white village of Istán to enjoy all the cultural and historical content hidden in its streets. This village is located 15 km from Marbella and very close to the start of the activity, where you will love the very special local gastronomy, with dishes such as gazpachuelo, migas and fried rabbit, among many other options. Istán, like Marbella, has a mild climate almost all year round and you will enjoy its views and warm atmosphere.
Other activities to be carried out in Istán
In the area surrounding Istán you can also enjoy many other activities that we can offer you such as hiking on its extensive network of trails, MTB in the Sierra de las Nieves National Park (consult about our tracks), or simply get lost in its narrow streets in a peaceful stroll in which you can drink from its countless natural springs.
If you like adrenaline fuelled experiences, we also offer rock climbing courses and guidance available through collaboration with schools such as Las Placas del Cura for beginners (IV to 6a+) or the Cerros de Lago climbing school, if you already have a more advanced level (from 6b to 7b).
Another activity that we highly recommend is the beautiful Los Molinos walk through the village and the fruit and vegetable gardens located in beautiful terraces supplied by the ancient network of irrigation ditches from the time of the Moorish conquest. These hundreds of kilometers of irrigation ditches are fed by the river Molino, which rises a little further up from a cleft in the mountain. It’s a beautiful and educational walk that starts and ends in the village and where you will finish the activity with a typical and delicious meal. Call us or send us a message on WhatsApp and we will help you to find out more!
